Southwest Central District Meetings

 

The Fall Meeting was held on Oct 1, 2016 at Logan's Roadhouse in Alexandria, LA.  Monroe/West Monroe was the host LO. State officers (President Kaaren Montgomery Grimes, PE Gwen Amelin, and Treasurer Angie Jackson Wilson) gave a report to members. The minutes for the Spring 2016 meeting and the Treasurer's Report were accepted as printed in the program.

      Plans and speakers were discussed for the upcoming Mid-Year Board which will be held at the Holiday Inn Express on North MacArthur Drive in Alexandria.

      Linda Burns, Co-Director gave a presentation on "Health and Wellness for Women as We Age". Areas covered were heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and breast cancer. Discussion showed % by race for the problems which we cold face and what we can do to prevent the problems as we age. Exercise, diet, being pro-active, and seeking medical advice led the list for every health concern. The meeting concluded with lunch.

 

The Spring District Meeting was held at the Best Western Conference Room in Alexandria, LA on Saturday, March 11, 2017.  Oakdale was the host LO. State Officers and Chairs (Pres. Kaaren Montgomery Grimes, PE Gwen Amelin, Treasurer Angie Jackson Wilson, and Leg/Equal Pay Chair Camille Moran) gave a report to members. Minutes for the Fall 2016 meeting and Treasurer's Report were accepted as printed in the program.

      Officers for the 2017-2018 year were elected. Linda Burns, Co-Director gave a presentation on "Fast Fixes for What Ails You". She discussed simple changes we can make in as little as 1 min., 10 min., and 30 min. a day that can change our energy levels, help us fight weight gain, conquer sleep deprivation, fight heart disease, get a handle on headaches, work on diabetes, and overcome depression. Plans for the upcoming State Conference were discussed.

      The Fall, 2017 meeting will be held on Saturday, October 14th and Alexandria is the host LO.
